Have you got Camille Roskelley's new book Simply Retro yet? If not, you need to! I love everything in this book and am more than a little obsessed. When I heard than Jana was going to be hosting a quilt along I knew that I had to join. Of course my mom had to join in on the fun too. And so here they are - our first quilts from the book. This one is titled Swell.
It's funny just how different two quilts can look when you use different fabrics. My mom choose to use a Willow jellyroll and I used up old scraps.
Actually when I very first started quilting, I found a quilting blog with a cute tutorial and decided to try it out. So I went and bought all the fabric for it and cut it all out. Once I started piecing it, I realized I had cut it all wrong! So I ditched the project all together and it's just been sitting in my closet ever since. When I was trying to decided what fabrics to use, I pulled it out and guess what? It was all cut up in the exact sizes I needed and I had the perfect amount of fabric to use. I only had to cut a few pieces of the teals and all the whites. Sure worked out well for me!
This has been a fun, easy one to piece. I can't wait to get it all quilted. And to start on all the other projects in the book.

I recently DEVOURED Roskelley's new book and am smitten by it, too. I found myself saying, "Okay, this quilt is on my 'short list.' And this one, and this, too!" I want to make one of each!
Yours turned out beautifully! Great job!
Hi Logan!! Two quilts? Amazing! Love them! I love even more how you did figure out the fabrics to make yours! I also used very old fabrics to make mine! I'm glad you both joined us. Make sure to post your quilts at the flickr group (http://www.flickr.com/groups/simplyretro/). Thanks a lot for participating :-)
Both are lovely! OK...another book that I must add to the collection!
